BOARDING AT EACS
For the first time, young people of WA’s southeast region have access to a quality Christian-based education and boarding experience close to home. Esperance Anglican Community School opened the doors to a brand new, state-of-the-art boarding house in 2015.
Esperance Anglican Community School is delighted to have a brand-new, 40-bed boarding house as part of its facilities. The addition of boarders extends the School’s reach into the wider hinterland of the Goldfields and the Wheatbelt. Superb, world-class facilities give parents in the region a real and affordable alternative to boarding their children in Perth. The School, too, will also gain much from boarders living in the heart of the School – the sense of community and truly broad education that we value will develop strongly. It is pleasing to see the positive start made by our boarders and the staff caring for them. Students are happy in a homely environment and are pursuing a range of interests as well as their school work. In addition to the Resident House Parent we have two Resident Tutors and a House Mother who are able to provide the quality of pastoral care we value so highly.
We live in a safe residential area in the heart of Esperance and on the doorstep of one of the world’s most beautiful natural playgrounds, boarders will be able to pursue their individual talents and interests and embrace the outdoor lifestyle that is central to life in the country. It’s the best of both worlds – a quality education underpinned by strong Christian values and a welcoming boarding experience in a familiar and inspiring setting.
Boarding at EACS is not simply about providing overnight accommodation – it’s about making the most of every opportunity, forging lifelong friendships and having experiences that will leave a lasting impression in the lives of students long after they leave school. For the first time, country students can enjoy a second home close to home. We can truly say that boarding means that EACS is the place to live and learn in the heart of Esperance.

BOARDING FAQs FOR STUDENTS
On top of the basic clothing and uniforms, our boarders recommend bringing a bike to explore our wonderful town and bike trails! Another must have is decorations for your room to make it feel like home.
Esperance Anglican Community School is committed to the holistic development of each of our boarders. Whilst many boarders choose to go home for the weekend, those that stay are ensured a great variety of activities! From excursions to one of our many beaches, mini-golf or a relaxing movie night, we have a vigorous recreational calendar so there will always be plenty to do.
We have supervised homework time or “prep” time 5 days a week. During this private study time our staff can help with any queries you might have throughout your school term. We also have access to private tutoring, and other support streams for those boarders who require it.
With an underpass outside the boarding house, the town centre is only a quick walk or bike ride away. You will have ample opportunity to visit shops, bicycle tracks, and enjoy time in town before heading back before curfew. Many of our boarders also enjoy hanging out with fellow boarders, playing games, or enjoying quiet time in their rooms after a busy day of learning!
Whilst boarding, boarders have the ability to earn McVay House Points. These go towards an end of year celebration and award! Boarders can regularly earn house point for community service, positive attitude, and a variety of other reasons deemed positive by the staff!
Technology is securely stored overnight and is only accessible by the staff members on duty. Following room inspections in the morning technology is given back for appropriate use throughout the day. During prep time boarders are monitored to ensure each boarder gets the most out of their education experience!
At EACS we have a range of different single and double rooms, each equipped with an ensuite! Our rooms are spacious and modern, with plenty of room for decorating to fit your style! Each age group has a dedicated common room lounge as well as a kitchen creating a home away from home.
Our wonderful kitchen staff work tirelessly to ensure everyone is fed a balanced and delicious lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea. All dietary requirements are welcome. We have a variety of healthy snacks available at all times, alongside designated areas for personal food storage.
We have a range of staff members each with unique experiences working with children and in boarder welfare. You can approach any staff member for pastoral care and academic support. We are dedicated to ensuring you have a safe and comfortable experience throughout the year.
BOARDING FAQs FOR PARENTS
No. Outside of curfew parents or approved guardians can request a leave for their child through our easy to use online REACH system. For safety and security we have a daily curfew in place, alongside an understanding that all boarders must be contactable via phone whilst out.
We have a dedicated team of Boarding House Supervisors, Kitchen Staff, as well as our Head of Boarding who ensure each of our boarders are supported through their journey whilst at EACS. The small scale of our campus ensures a personalised approach to caring for each of our boarders. Staff ensure a high level of communication with parents, with frequent updates and plenty of photos!
Of course! Parents are always welcome to visit their children. Using the REACH app parents can quickly complete a leave request for their child, or pop in to see their child through contacting our duty phone throughout the day.
Only approve guests and staff members can enter the boarding house. The health and safety of our boarders is our upmost priority and we have a variety of security measures in place to ensure this. The whereabouts of our boarders is known to staff at all times following our sign-in sign-out process.
During school holidays the EACS boarding house will close after ensuring all of our boarders have a safe and secure way home. During these times we also offer a bus schedule with various designated drop off points within the region where parents can pick up their child.
Each wing has a dedicated laundry of which the boarders are free to use. We ensure that each boarder has clean laundry throughout the week. We also offer a weekly laundry service for uniforms and boarding house linen. Each boarder is taught how to neatly organise their living spaces through following a rostered cleaning schedule. Our cleaning staff also visit regularly to ensure the highest quality of cleanliness is maintained throughout the school year.
Depending on the severity of the boarder’s illness, we can accommodate them in the house for a short time, however if they are infectious or require a longer term of care they are required to go home or be released to a local guardian.
