CO-CURRICULAR
EACS offers, supports and encourages participation in a wide range of co-curricular activities.
Homework Club
During the year we run a variety of after school homework clubs including English, Maths, Chess, Robotics and Dance. Everyone is most welcome! Please contact the school to find what’s on each term.
Service
All students are involved in the School's service programme. EACS values the importance of developing a sense of service to the community, both within the School and within the wider community. Students participate in a number of events during the year including, Inter-house Athletics and Swimming Carnivals, Founder's Day Activities, Specified Church Services, Speech Night, ANZAC Day Dawn Service, ANZAC Day March and other activities related to the School service program.
Sport
Sport at EACS is a feature of student life. Many skills including teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and striving for success are learnt from an involvement in sport. Over time, the sports offered by EACS will include Athletics, Cricket, Australian Rules, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, Netball, Swimming, Volleyball and Cross Country.
EACS students enjoy competing in the state-wide Country Week event which sees students participating in a range of sports and dance.
Music
Music forms an important part of life for a student at EACS. Opportunities exist to receive instrumental lessons from experienced staff across a range of instruments, as well as vocal lessons. A School Concert Band was formed in 2011 and perform at School and community events.
Drama
Our students enjoy many opportunities to participate in the dramatic arts with Drama forming an integral part of the curriculum. Students enjoy the chance to put their skills to the test on stage with a bi-annual production at the local theatre.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
EACS is an approved and licensed operator of the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh award. All Year 9 students are required to work towards their Bronze Award and students are encouraged to work towards the Silver and Gold Awards in their senior years.
Students can personalise their program, completing four mandatory sections from the following choices:
- Physical Recreation – sport and fitness
- Skill – learn a new skill
- Volunteering – connect with community
- Adventurous Journey – a journey into an unfamiliar environment
- Residential Project (Gold Award only) – live and work in a place of need in Australia or overseas
Camps and Excursions
EACS's Outdoor Education and Excursion program aims to increase the level of challenge and is designed to complement students' academic and social development. School Camps focus on promoting the qualities of self-reliance, initiative, co-operation, self-esteem, leadership and the capacity to deal with significant emotional and physical challenges in a safe and fun environment. Relationships between other students and with EACS staff are enhanced by the camp experience.
During their years at EACS students are likely to participate in Year 7 and 8 Recreational Camp, Year 9 Canberra Camp and Year 10 and 11 Work Experience and Career Pathways Camp to Perth.
